Please join us on Saturday October 4th for our full day Adobe Premiere 101 video editing intensive with Julia Berghammer Villarreal. The workshop will be hosted at NOVAC from 10 AM - 6PM.

Hands-on, beginner level course for individuals interested in learning how to edit audio and video in Premiere Pro. The class provides an introduction to the art of editing and storytelling techniques employed in this medium, with heavy focus on the technical skills and knowledge needed to navigate the PR workspace and assemble sequences. This class will not get into sound design or color grading.

  • The intensive will include:

  • A brief history of film, and an introduction to key terminology related to audio and video (technical and creative)

  • Video editing workflow and best practices

  • The bulk of the class will be focused on navigating the Premiere Pro interface, how to start a project and best practices on bin structure and file management in Premiere Pro, 3-point editing, core editing tools and concepts (like in and out, ripple and rolling), working with adjustment layers, adding text, keyframes, applying effects, and and how to export.

Julia Berghammer Villarreal

Passionate about amplifying BIPOC voices and building equitable opportunities, Julia Berghammer Villarreal’s expertise lies at the intersection of visual art, digital media, youth education, and social justice. With a Master's in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art/Art History, she brings a holistic perspective to my work in creating meaningful change at the intersection of creativity and education. From expanding youth initiatives to writing arts education policy to designing a video editing pre-apprenticeship, she is committed to expanding creative opportunities for underrepresented communities and hopes to contribute to positive change in her role at NOVAC. In addition to working in nonprofits, she is also a freelance illustrator and graphic designer and has worked on a variety of creative projects from websites, to film posters, to illustrating a children's book.
