Join us on Wednesday March 27th from 6-9 PM for “Iterative Editing” Workshop with Misty Talley at NOVAC!

Faster can also be better if done right and when you have an editing workflow designed for maximum efficiency it always is. With iterative editing you can improve the speed at which you work as well as the quality with the bonus of saving yourself some serious stress. The workshop will cover:

  • Changing your mindset to focus on planning, organization, and avoiding the work avalanche and burnouts

  • Understanding the concept of iterations and letting go of nitpicking.

  • Rethinking the edit and how building quick alternate versions of your edit can change the way you think about the story and create a shortcut to a better product

  • Identifying diminishing returns and setting your hours for sustainability

  • Prepping for the edit, how scheduling & planning can make or break the quality of your edit

  • Look at a case study of a network made-for-tv film in Avid Media Composer and look at the bins & workflow of how it was edited in only 3 weeks after wrapping the shoot (Note, this concept can be applied in Premiere or any other NLE)

  • Look at a case study of an indie feature in Avid Media Composer and look at the bins & how I used the 8 weeks of editing time to rethink the cut entirely and mold the story to it's strongest version (Note, this concept can be applied in Premiere or any other NLE)
