A lead-in to Intro to Pre-Pro. In this open-discussion seminar, Eva Contis will cover the finer points of how to prepare as a director--

  • How to work with a budget to tell your story effectively
  • The power of rewrites to hone in on story and save time and money

Participants are encouraged to bring specific questions about their projects.

Eva Contis

Eva is a New Orleans and Los Angeles based writer and director. Born and raised in Northern California, she worked in Los Angeles as a film and television editor to hone her craft of visual storytelling. Her directorial debut, THE STAND can be traced back to Shreveport and the Louisiana Film Prize, where it made the “Top 5” as well as winning a Founder’s Circle Grant. THE STAND screened at numerous film festivals, was Oscar-qualified and landed distribution with Shorts International. It was also featured in a four-page spread in American Cinematographer featuring Valentina Caniglia's beautiful camera work. Her most recent film, BREASTS, had a strong festival run that started with a premiere at the New Orleans Film Festival before heading to the Austin Film Festival for its Texas premiere. It screened worldwide at over 20 film festivals, winning awards for best short drama, best international short, best story, two awards for social impact and a nomination for best director. She is drawn to stories that give marginalized communities a voice.
