Instructor

Sultana Isham

Sultana Isham explores sound as biology through composition and ethnomusicology. She is an award-winning film composer, violinist, writer, conductor and published scholar. She is a composer and interdisciplinary fellow at The Sundance Institute and her recent film score, “The Neutral Ground,” is for a feature film about the removal of confederate monuments, directed by C. J. Hunt. The film premiered at Tribeca Film Festival and broadcasted nationally on the PBS show POV. Her compositions have been performed by international and local orchestras including the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. Her upcoming score for the docu-series, “Stax Records,” directed by Jamila Wignot will broadcast internationally on HBO in 2024.
